Memory of Light: A High-Tech Office Design by Te-Chih Lo

Creating a Meaningful and Intelligent Workspace

With its sleek and modern design, Memory of Light is not just an ordinary office space. It is a high-speed network computing center and the central headquarters of Taiwan's supercomputers. Designed to meet the needs of users with unmanned interaction, this office is equipped with high technology and high intelligence.

The inspiration for Memory of Light came from the idea of creating a space that could be used for display, office work, negotiations, and AI artificial intelligence. The designer wanted to integrate scientific and technological concepts into the design, with the extension of light lines and the restructuring of memories as the core.

One of the unique features of this design is the use of tires as a decorative element. The tires, symbolizing high-speed, are placed above the ceiling and correspond to the rapid transmission of light. Additionally, the office is equipped with Taiwan patented circular metal sound-absorbing panels, resembling memory CD-disks, adding a touch of innovation to the space.

Memory of Light covers an area of 383.5 square meters and is located in Hsinchi, Taiwan. The project was completed in January 2021. During the design process, the designer paid attention to environmental sustainability and used materials that comply with environmental protection and green building standards. The space also features barrier-free ramps to ensure accessibility for all.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was to create spaces for relaxation and rest. The designer cleverly incorporated elements such as horizontal bars, swings, and climbing walls, which not only provide a break from work but also have the image effect of data transmission belts, frequencies, and upward climbing.

Memory of Light has been recognized for its exceptional design and innovation. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2021. This award is given to well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design of Memory of Light integrates industry best practices and competent technical characteristics, contributing to a better world.
